AkzoNobel’s Marine Coatings business, International®, has signed a new contract to provide coatings for two 83m Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) with Selah Shipyard, Turkey, thanks to a long-standing relationship.
International Paint Turkey has been working with Selah on their turnkey PSV projects since 2010, helping the yard successfully deliver its recent ‘H66’ project. Named ‘Ievoli Sapphire’, measuring 79.45m in length and with a beam of 16.80m, the new PSV has been built and equipped in compliance with FFV Class 1 and DP2 class notations, according to ABS classification and Italian Flag Authority.
The vessel, coated with International’s Intergard®7600, Interswift®6600, Interswift®6800HS, Interthane®990, Interline®994 and Interline®975 is now serving in the Caspian Sea.
The second PSV, currently named ‘H67’, is under construction and International® is the paint supplier for this Multipurpose Platform Supply Vessel. On completion of this project, International will fulfil a further two new contracts for two 83m PSV’s, currently named ‘H69’ and ‘H70’.
Gaye Özen, Business Development & Project Executive for Selah, commented “We’ve been working with International® since 2010 and have used their coatings on a number of projects. We are very satisfied with the expertise, quality, technical consultancy, tailor made specifications and recommendations that International® has provided for each project. In fact, we’ve been so happy with the service that we’ve chosen them to supply coatings for two new upcoming PSV projects”.
Burak Iseri, Newbuilding Sales Manager at International Paint Turkey commented, “Selah is the first shipyard in Turkey to choose Intergard®7600 as the universal primer for their newbuilding projects. The product has shown excellent application properties including fast drying at lower temperatures, extended overcoating intervals and compatibility with almost all finishes.
Selah also uses a selection of our other coatings and I look forward to supplying our products on many more projects in the future”.
